How jamal can help
Nutrition support for IBS
Living with IBS often means eating feels unpredictable. Working with a registered dietitian brings structure to the process: we look at your symptoms, your current eating pattern, and your goals, then build a plan you can actually live with — including a properly guided low-FODMAP elimination and reintroduction if it's appropriate for you.
Investment & payment
My practice is private-pay, which keeps sessions flexible and focused entirely on your goals rather than insurance requirements. I can provide a superbill on request, which some insurance plans reimburse. Pricing is listed with each service — no surprises.
Common questions
- How do sessions work?
- Sessions run over video or phone (with local options in Austin, AU), starting with a full assessment of your history, eating pattern, and goals. From there we meet at a rhythm that fits — typically every two to four weeks — adjusting the plan as your life and progress evolve.
- Is this covered by insurance?
- My practice is private-pay, and I can provide a superbill that some plans reimburse for out-of-network nutrition care. This keeps our work flexible and unhurried. You'll see all pricing up front, and we can talk through options on a free discovery call.
- What happens on a discovery call?
- A discovery call is a free, low-pressure 15-minute conversation. You share what's going on and what you're hoping to change; I explain how I'd approach it and answer your questions. If we're a good fit, we book your first full session. If not, I'll point you toward someone who is.
- Are dietitians and nutritionists the same thing?
- No. "Registered dietitian" (RD/RDN) is a protected credential requiring an accredited degree, supervised clinical training, and a national board exam — while "nutritionist" is unregulated in many states. Working with an RD means your care is grounded in accredited clinical training, not just a certificate.
- Do I have to follow a low-FODMAP diet forever?
- No. Low-FODMAP is designed as a short-term learning process, not a permanent diet. The elimination phase typically lasts a few weeks, followed by structured reintroduction to identify your personal triggers. The long-term goal is the most varied, least restrictive diet that keeps you comfortable.
